I could just LOVE to be at Eddie's desktop today.

It is snowing. We are at -20 right now with wind chill warnings. I would love to be someplace warm!

You dropped a 'sleeper' here, Barney!!
Debian might appeal with the exorbitant prices Microsoft is planning for Windows 7.

Well, I would recommend Ubuntu as an alternative. It is a live CD that you can download, burn the .iso image with Imgburn (it is free) and then pop it in your CD / DVD drive and boot up. It runs from your computer's memory, so it doesn't install unless you want it to. Take the CD out, reboot, and voila..... your computer is as it was. A great way to try a really popular Linux distro!

Yes.  wink.gif    I have five  i7 920 machines running f@h, and are all Debian(testing); my wife's computer is running Ubuntu 9.10.  The one Windows machine I have is set up solely to handle slide/35mm and photo negative scanning with a Visioneer scanner, that has Windows-only compatable software.      Just for variety I have a Mac Mini running a 36" screen to watch streaming media from Hulu while exercizing on my eliptical.   As you might guess, the Mini has low hours on it, just like the eliptical.    rofl.gif

Well, some might be puzzled by all the computers and equipment that I have, but considering that this is my only hobby(no hot rods, speed-boats, hanggliders, etc) I would say that I get my passtime  done pretty inexpensively.  My wife even understands that...well, all but the electricity bill!.   redface.gif
