Microsoft warns of Kinect shortages; Playstation Move stutters in the US
Permalink

Microsoft has begun warning consumers about the possibility of Kinect hardware shortages when the Xbox 360 motion controller comes out next month. This news from Microsoft comes just days after Amazon UK and severalĀ Game websites stopped taking pre-orders due to high demand, though console bundles seem to still be avaliable.

Last month, Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg predicted that Kinect would sell more than three million units before the end of 2010, this news looks likely to back up that claim. Microsoft stated that additional units will go to stores for those who have not pre-ordered on a first come first serve limited basis.

In the meantime Sony seems to have had lower than expected sales of their motion controller for the Playstation 3, the Playstation Move. In the United States, estimated sales have been tallied to about around 300,000 units. Across the globe sales of Sony's Move controller have exceeded expectations in Europe, with over 1.5 million units now sold since it launched late last month. More titles supporting the Move hardware will be released over the coming weeks including SingStar Dance and The Shoot.

Kinect launches in North America on November 4 and then in Europe on November 10, while Playstation Move is currently out now.
