Final Tweaks and Helpful Links

Final tweaks for your computer can go from simple disk defragging to all out CPU overclocking and upgrading the CPU BIOS (sometimes called "flashing the BIOS"). While we do not have the time or space to cover these areas, we suggest that you visit sites like: http://www.tweaktown.com and http://www.extremetech.com to get the latest info on the newest and best tweaking options. Probably, the best tweaking for the beginner after your system is up and running includes:

1) a full disk scan and defragment of all partitions (Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Defrag)

2) disk clean-up (Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Clean-up)

3) a registry cleaner (found in such programs as Norton's Systemworks,

4) a full system virus scan after you have updated virus definitions

5) a full spyware and adware scan by such free programs as SpyBot and Ad-Aware.

These tweaks should be employed often (weekly prehaps) to keep your system clean and clutter free. And, it goes without saying that you should always check for updates on your operating system's update site, and your anti-virus program's virus definitions update site.
