Microsoft has announced that Office for Mac 2011 will be released in October 2010 in more than 100 countries globally. At release, there will be two editions available: Office for Mac Home Student 2011 and Office for Mac Home and Business 2011. Starting today, if you buy Office for Mac 2008, you will eligible for a free upgrade when Office for mac 2011 is released.

Purchasing the Home and student edition ($119) will give you access to Word for Mac, PowerPointmag-glass_10x10.gif for Mac, Excel for Mac and Messenger for Mac. You can buy a family pack of licenses for $149, giving you three licenses for extra Macs. The Home and Business edition ($199) will also include Outlook for Mac, and will be available in a two license pack for $279.

The Office for Mac 2011 beta has been generally well received, especially with Outlook for Mac, macros in Excel and the overall implementation of the Office ribbon this time around. Other features include multiple document editing and document sharing through SharePoint, SkyDrive and other related document management systems.
