HP Printer Software
Permalink

I started having issues with my all-in-one printer.  I have the same printer at work.  Local not networked.  I tried for 5 hours and no matter what I tried it wouldn't work.  One of the best tech guys we have came over.  Two hours later he was able to print and scan which is what I need at home.  However, we could not figure out why it kept adding print devices that were not hooked up.  We would remove them, close the window, reopen and they would reappear.  Didn't matter because I could print and scan.  It was already way past quitting time so we called it a day because it did what I needed it to do.  To get this to work he downloaded the Series Full Solution.

Home...can scan, but cannot print.  Well, yes I can print BUT it choses a driver that deals with the dymo label writer makes it a pcl6 and then only prints in black and white because that is all the dymo does.  Weird.  Chooses the dymo but prints to my printer.

Unhooked the dymo.  Went through every single folder and deleted any hp drivers for anything.  Rebooted.  The dymo doesn't come up, but those magical printers keep appearing.  I have no idea where the software is hiding.

Anyway, I either need to be able to print to my printer in color OR I waste 3 hours tomorrow driving and printing at work.  So I went on the hp web site to download the series full solution again.  Thinking maybe running with my home printer will get it to work.

There are 4 different titles for the full solutions.  The descriptions all say the same thing, versions are the same...just the different titles and total file size.  How do I chose which one to use?

Running WIN7 32 bit.  Printer hp color laserjet 1312nfi mfp.

This is the software that I would try off the bat.....

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3558903&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=3558902&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=4062

If that didn't work, I would fall back to the Vista drivers as they work on Windows 7:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3558903&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=3558902&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=2093

Before I re-installed the drivers, I would go to Control Panel and remove all drives associated with your printer first, in order to get a clean start!

Hope this helps!

If you installed your HP All-In-One Printer using the CD that came with it, there should be a HP folder in Program Files containing uninstall information, help, troubleshooting, etc.

I did all the uninstalls. As I said it is like kernals are hiding and I just can't find them. It is weird.

Barney, the first link is the program that I did use. The CD doesn't hold WIN7 drivers so it takes you the web site. I did not try with the Vista drivers.

What I ended up doing was installing the WIN7 1312 series on another laptop that did not have any printer associated with it. The install worked perfectly and printing as well. Although with DSL the download took a really long time.

Time of completion and off to bed...3:30 am.

I am just going to fry and reimage the other. Start with a clean slate.

Thanks guys!

I would try the Vista drivers first, before you get too far into this. There is a very good chance that they will work just fine. wink

Just had to uninstall my HP F4180 'All-In-One' from the Control Panel and reinstall from the CD to get it working correctly.
