You can't use your DSL or cable connection for faxing. A new technology, Voice over IP (VoIP) will undoubtedly make this possible in the future. I got good experience for sending Fax:
While I am using Internet thru ADSL (8pin) cable(not USB port) , I plug in a direct phone cable to phone jack of my Laptop and sent faxes. It done.
