This is going to save me tons of time. I don't think the article will do me any good but the posts below have the info that will be the best for me.
I had one iPod messed up when I tried to transfer to a different computer. Luckily when I went back to the original computer is synced right back to what I had it as. That was about a week ago. I decided not to try to move the music until I could figure out what was going on.
I have a touch (without the phone) and I just can't get it to work right..even using WinAmp. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
I guess I will just stay locked in to iTunes until someone can come up with something that will work for touch (and then can explain it to me at a dumbed down level)
Supposedly though I can authorize other computers (up to 5) to do the music. It isn't working for me there either. It says the computer is authorized, but it won't work properly.
Vin thanks much. I had actually found the mp3 versions of the songs just by poking around in the files. That is what I am using now to back up the iPod and doing a copy/paste function. If you do it the way iTunes wants you to, it goes to a disk and the disk will NOT rewrite. So if you make changes you start over with brand new disks. Without additional peripherials I can't figure out how to clean off the old disks either. What a pain.
When I have some time again to mess around, I am going to follow the steps in the article and see where it takes me, and how I can modify the process to fit me.
I really appreciate you looking into this. No matter what though it doesn't sound like it will be very easy. I may have to look into the iriver that a few folks commented about after the article.
