Microsoft has been working on a new social website called Docs.com. Built using Microsoft Office 2010, users can upload, create, edit and share Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents with friends and family on Facebook.

The online social Office lets your Facebook friends – when users login through Facebook Connect – connect with your shared documents, which can be posted on your wall. Docs.com lets the user set the level of privacy, on per-file bases, so you can hide files from view, or allow some or all of your friends to just view or edit files with you. Unlike Office 2010, only one user can edit a document at a time.

Docs.com includes the same ribbon found in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint, offering users the same experience online, as they would on the desktop version. Although Docs.com is still in beta, and may add more functionality in the future, the experience is flawless.
