I just wanted to point out that I have tried Mint Linux 9 on one of my laptops (as well as dual booting my Debian system) and I am incredibly impressed. It is probably the easiest Linux distro to try. Based on Ubuntu (which I think is simple enough) Mint Linux adds some refinement, increased simplicity, and elegance to the distro. Boot up the live CD, play around with it first, then install it from the desktop icon. It also installs if you are running Windows and you simply put in the CD........ gives you a dual-boot system!
Try it on an older computer.... even the Live CD is fun to play with (although it is slower since everything is loading into RAM)....... I highly recommend it!
