I am putting this under the How-To only because it isn't necessarily related to computers.
Does anyone know about cell phone boosters? e.g. Zboost
We recently went wireless for computers around the house. Lovin' it by the way.
The person that did the installation recommended that we should look at getting cell phone boosters so that we could use our cell phones in the house. We live in an area where we can only get reception if we stand on our tiptoes with one hand up in the air and the other holding on to the blender (I think you get my meaning). We do get minimal reception close to the front windows and a side window.
We just went to a new android type phone and have decided that we would really like to get a booster type product. I have looked at CNET and a few other sales sites for reviews. The user reviews run the gamut.
Is there a better site than CNET to get better information regarding the boosters? Does anyone have any first hand knowledge about boosters?
When we had Alltel (now Element) we had to do the same as far as poor reception. We now have USC hear in the boonies. It is like night and day!
We have a Panasonic BlueTooth/Answering Machine/Cordless phone set-up now. It integrates up to 2 cells with the land line. (You don't have to use the land line)
You place the cells for best reception and they "BlueTooth" to the base. You can answer either cell or phone.
If we are on the internet (dial-up)...we can answer the cell thru our cordless phone. Or dial out thru cell.
Barney, the booster would be a stationary device. We could then use the cell phones anywhere in the house.
NicKnayme, I have a panasonic phone system in the house, and it is very similar to the one you link to. It might even be the one, but I have to look. I have 5 units total (including base). I am going to have to do some reading.
Vindicated, thanks for the link. I had looked at several and went into the CNET reviews but never thought about the community boards. It looks like it holds some good information so I bookmarked it to get some more information.
Since this is a trial thing, I would purchase whatever we buy from a place I could return it for at least 30 days just in case it doesn't work. I can't afford to throw money away on something that doesn't work.
