Rumour: iPhone 5 will have teardrop design
Permalink

Joshua Topolsky, the former editor-in-chief of the Engadget, is reporting that a source has leaked information about the iPhone 5 specifications and hardware styling. The article explains how the "design of the phone is set to radically change" and that his sources have revealed that the new handset will actually look more like an iPod touch rather than an iPhone. "The phone will be thinner than the iPhone 4, and may have a “teardrop” shape which goes from thick to thin (something along the lines of the MacBook Air profile)," Topolsky said.

Based on the information provided, which the image above is based on, the newphone will most likely have little to no bezel and will feature a 3.7 inch screen while "keeping the current resolution" but lowering "pixel density from 326 to 312" meaning a drop of 13ppi.

Last week Verizon's Fran Shammo commented about the next iPhone while answering a question from an analyst over changes in the company’s margins. "The fluctuation, I believe, will come when a new device from Apple is launched, whenever that may be, and that we will be, on the first time, on equal footing with our competitors on a new phone hitting the market" said Shammo. Topolsky explains how this information falls "perfectly in line" with previous speculation and hints that the next iPhone may well be the first to properly utilise Qualcomm’s dual Gobi chipset.
