Apple's Very Own 'Patch Tuesday' Deals With MacDefender Scareware

 Apple on Tuesday released a promised security update for Mac OS X 10.6.7, aka Snow Leopard, and Mac OS X Server 10.6.7 that identifies, quarantines and removes a system-crippling class of rogue anti-virus malware commonly known as MacDefender.

Mac scareware gang, Apple trade blows yet again

Scareware makers on Friday again changed their fake security software scam, while Apple issued the third signature update in as many days to combat the con.

Mac Defender Crashes Apple Security Myth

Apple, and the Apple faithful would like to pretend that Mac malware doesn't exist. But, thanks to some awesome investigative reporting by Ed Bott, Jacqui Cheng, and others, we know that AppleCare technicians are seeing an explosion of malware issues, and that Apple has specifically directed support technicians not to get involved.
