I'm so glad you guys are here. I'm tearing my hair out trying to get my son to change his browser to something other than MSN Explorer. You remember.....the butterfly??

His email account is a msn.com listing so it should not be too much of a switch (I hope).

IE 8 is on his 10 yr old Dell WinXP and that would be my choice. God forbid I should try to get him to Firefox or Chrome.

When I try to use IE and log him in the system will automatically go to MSN Explorer login screen.

how can I change browser to IE as default and loose the other and maintain his email address?

BTW a nag screen comes up when entering the browser which is dated 2009. The nag screen asks for updating which was done long ago?

To me, it sounds like you want to change your Home Page? You want to use IE but you don't want it to go to MSN, correct?

Noooh -- he wants to get shed of MSN Explorer and use Internet Explorer as his browser.

I'm doing exactly this on my Windows XP SP3 computer. My homepage is MSN but I don't use MSN Explorer.

I see it's IE 5.5! So that's a good reason to get rid of it.

I had MSN as my dial-up Internet Service Provider but had to change to AT&T (Bellsouth) to go DSL.  To keep my @msn.com e-mail address, I pay Microsoft $19.95/year.  We also have @bellsouth.net e-mail but seldom use it.

Windows Live Mail handles both e-mail accounts as well as my @maggymae.com account.
